There was a change at the BSN leadership position after last games. Round 13 most important game was a defeat of league's leaderCapitanes (10-6). They were crushed by fourth ranked Leones (5-7) 93-71 on Wednesday night. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Capitanes. Ponce looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American guard Matt Mooney (189-1997, college: Texas Tech) stepped up and scored 15 points and 8 assists for the winners and naturalized Nicaraguan Jared Ruiz (188-1992) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Five Leones players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward RJ Melendez (201-2002, college: MSU) responded with 17 points and Dominican Victor Liz (190-1986) scored 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ponce maintains fourth place with 5-7 record. Arecibo at the other side still keeps top position with six games lost. They share it with Mayaguez. They were replaced at the leadership position by Mayaguez.
